2023 Power of the Purse

Power of the Purse is celebrating its 5th anniversary! Women United is offering participants the chance to find their next statement piece or every-day accessory by browsing at our in-person event or bidding on your favorite items from the comfort of your living room. Bidding opens at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3. All purchases support programs that focus on women and children through the Brighter Future Fund, making your shopping experience impactful and fun!

Make sure to register for a Bid Beacon account and download the app ahead of the auction opening.  

How to make a Bid Beacon account and download the app

1. Click here to go to the Bid Beacon website.

2. Fill in your email address and create a password.

3. Fill in your first and last name, create a display name and fill in your phone number.

4. A credit card must be on file before bidding opens.

5. Enter Access Code KPF4KW.

6. Click Create Account.

Bid on auction items

Whether or not you attend the in-person event, the bidding process for Power of the Purse is completely virtual. To see and bid on auction items, register for a Bid Beacon account and download the app through the link above. Bid Beacon will accept bids between 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3 and 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 5.

Our in-person event will take place on Friday, May 5 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Meadowbrook Country Club, located at 2149 N. Green Bay Road in Mt. Pleasant. 

Attendees will be treated to a lunch buffet. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available. Attendees will be able to listen to a keynote by Peggy Kelsey of We Energies, one of the founding members of Women United in Racine County. She will discuss her philanthropy journey and about why it is important to give back. Also attendees will have the opportunity to browse the auction items and a cash-only wine pull sponsored by Festival Foods and Total Wine & More.

Women United is hosting a collection drive for YWCA’s Dress for Success Racine. Items needed include: gently used purses and other small accessories, as well as new makeup and pantyhose. Please bring donations to the luncheon on May 5. If you are unable to attend and still wish to donate, please contact Tracie Feest for drop-off information.
