A Legacy That Lives On: SC Johnson and United Way of Racine County

This post marks the beginning of Supporter Spotlight. Each month, we'll be shining a spotlight on some of United Way of Racine County's supporters on our website, in our monthly Handraiser email and on social channels. Read more about our additional Spotlighted Supporters here.

SC Johnson’s commitment to Racine County runs deep. In 1922, a group of business leaders, headed by H.F. Johnson, Sr., established the Racine Community Welfare Fund to support local families in need. That fund later evolved into what is now United Way of Racine County, creating a legacy of care that continues more than a century later.

From the very beginning, SC Johnson has remained a steadfast partner in building a stronger community. Through ongoing financial support from both the company and its employees, SC Johnson helps ensure that critical programs addressing education, financial stability, and health continue to thrive.

Equally important is the time and talent SC Johnson employees invest in our work. Over the years, countless team members have served as board members, Volunteer Advisory Team members who help guide funding decisions, campaign chairs, and employee campaign champions who share the story of United Way of Racine County’s impact. Many also volunteer as VITA tax preparers, Schools of Hope tutors, and Days of Caring participants — bringing hands-on support to neighbors who need it most.

SC Johnson has also been a proud supporter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, helping provide free, high-quality books to children across Racine County. Through this initiative, generations of young learners have been given a strong foundation for literacy and lifelong success.

We are proud to recognize SC Johnson for more than a century of community leadership, generosity, and service. And for the countless ways its employees continue to make a lasting difference through United Way of Racine County.
