Welcome to Supporter Spotlight, where we highlight some of United Way of Racine County's supporters on our website, in our monthly Handraiser email and on social channels.
Modine: Taking science to the students
Modine has been a longtime supporter of United Way of Racine County, helping strengthen local programs and services through years of financial support and community partnership.
A recent, exciting partnership with Modine and Racine Unified School District brought the Hoop Dreams and Clean Machines science fair to United Way of Racine County’s three community schools. The event gave fifth graders at the schools the chance to explore STEM concepts through hands-on learning opportunities and creative problem-solving.
Students were encouraged to explore science and engineering with creativity and problem-solving, connecting classroom learning with real-world concepts. Modine’s support helped create a meaningful experience for local students and demonstrated the value of community partnerships in expanding educational opportunities for young learners across Racine County.
We are grateful for Modine’s partnership and investment in local students.
NAMI Racine County: Supporting those facing mental health challenges
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we are proud to recognize NAMI Racine County for its longtime partnership with UWRC and the commitment to supporting mental wellness throughout Racine County.
NAMI Racine County works to reduce stigma surrounding mental health challenges while providing education, advocacy, and support for individuals and families navigating mental health conditions. The work helps create a community where people feel safer seeking help, accessing resources, and having open conversations about mental health.
Through its partnership with United Way of Racine County, NAMI Racine County continues to expand awareness, foster understanding, and remind community members that no one has to face mental health challenges alone.
We are grateful for their leadership, compassion, and dedication to building a healthier community.
Spencer Wood: Making an impact, one walk at a time
Spencer Wood has been a dedicated Walking School Bus volunteer. For more than two years, Spencer has helped students at Knapp and Julian Thomas community schools start their day safely and successfully. Alongside his dad, Walking School Bus Coordinator Stuart Wood, Spencer volunteers daily to ensure students get to school on time, ready to learn, and supported by caring adults in their community.
The Walking School Bus program helps build safe routines, encourage attendance, and strengthen relationships with students and families. Spencer’s consistency, kindness, and dedication demonstrate how even small daily acts of service can make a lasting impact.
We are grateful for Spencer’s commitment to supporting local students and strengthening our community.
