United Horizons Organization Series

Are you a nonprofit leader or board member looking to strengthen your skills and deepen your impact? The United Horizons Organization Series is designed specifically for executive directors and current board members of local nonprofit organizations who want to expand their knowledge and build confidence in their roles.

This flexible program allows participants to select from a series of four focused sessions ranging from topics on board governance to best practices in board management.

The series is open to nonprofit representatives in Racine County and is offered at no cost.

United Horizons original board training program is a series for Racine County residents who preparing for board service and other leadership opportunities. Courses are designed to provide participants with a strong foundation in board responsibilites and nonprofit leadership.

We heard your feedback and we are excited to share that these opportunities are now open to you as well!

Organization representatives are welcome to attend any of the United Horizons courses. Pick the sessions that interest you most, or join them all while connecting with Racine Community members preparing for nonprofit board service.

Registration is required to attend. All sessions are in person. Location and other logistics will be provided after registration.

Program Kickoff and Orientation: Monday, November 3 | 4:30–6:30 p.m.
- In-depth look at data for the city and county
Nonprofit Boards 101/Governance: Monday, November 10 | 4:30–6:30 p.m.
- Learn the basics and best practices of general nonprofit board mechanics, roles and responsibilities
Fundraising and Storytelling: Monday, November 17 | 4:30–6:30 p.m.
- Learn how to best tell your organizations story and the ins and outs of fundraising
Board Members As Advocates: Monday, November 24 | 4:30–6:30 p.m.
- Discover how to effectively advocate for your organization
Legal, Financial and Ethical Responsibilities: Monday, December 1 | 4:30–6:30 p.m.
- Learn how to identify your legal, ethical and fiduciary responsibilities as a member of a nonprofit board

Can’t attend the Fall/Winter Core Sessions? Don’t worry! Another session will be offered in Spring 2026, with dates and registration opening in February 2026.
