United Way of Racine County improves lives and creates lasting community change in partnership with local organizations. We do this by funding direct services and supporting efforts that get to the heart of our community problems.
United Way brings together people from all across the community - people from government, business, faith groups, nonprofits and ordinary citizens - to focus on the critical issues we all face. United Way cares about getting results that no one organization can accomplish alone.
United Way needs contributions from across the community to make things work. Each year more than 250 Racine companies and organizations hold campaigns to allow their employees an opportunity to make an investment in their community. With two out of every three families in Racine touched by the United Way in their lifetime, it is no wonder that more than 12,000 individuals are donating. They are showing that they are willing to invest in their families, friends, and neighbors. These contributions go to work bringing lasting change in Racine County.
Annual Contributions are truly an investment in Racine County. United Way funds more than 70 programs in Racine County. These programs are funded through a well-organized allocation process using more than 100 community volunteers to make effective investments in a broad range of programs. These programs help insure that children start school prepared, support youth as they work toward a productive adulthood, and help individuals and families reach maximum independence.
Today, thanks to the efforts of thousands of loyal volunteers and donors, we have achieved a campaign of $4.9 million in 2009! We can all be proud of the fact that our rich history of service and commitment to improving human lives goes on.
