Youth As Resources has three grant cycles each program year (July 1 to the following June 30). Completed grant applications must be submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. on the day of the deadline. Grant applications may be mailed, faxed, or personally delivered. Mailed applications must be received by the deadline. Regardless of the method of delivery, groups applying for YAR dollars should keep a copy of their application for their records. Grant applications should be printed clearly in blue or black ink and whenever possible, the original application should be submitted. It is not necessary for grant applications to be typed. In the interest of fairness, late grant applications will NOT be accepted.

Shortly after the grant deadline, the YAR board meets to screen the applications. Those applicants whose proposals follow the guidelines and show potential are invited to present their project to the board. At the presentations, the youth groups are expected to explain their project and answer questions. Based on the presentations, the YAR board chooses projects to recommend for funding. The YAR coordinator presents the funding recommendations to United Way of Racine County’s Community Investment Committee (CIC). Funds are available approximately one month after the grant application deadline. Groups should take the length of the grant process into consideration while planning their projects.
